 Seller -  Prepare your home for the inspection:

 

·         Open blinds so inspector can easily open windows.
·       Pets should be removed or locked in cage.
·       Remove cars, boats, etc. from garage for ease of access.
·       Clear access to all attic accesses and crawlspace.
·       ALL utilities should be ON.
·       Water needs to be turned on inside the home, as the inspector is not allowed to turn water on at main valve in home.
·       Make sure alarms are off or inspector has the code.
·       Make sure keys and or locks work properly.
·       Have keys available for any locked spaces.
·       If there is a gas fireplace, leave a key for gas line shut off valve.
·       If house is vacant it is best to leave thermostat between 72-76 in summer and 60-64 in winter months.
·       Replace burnt out light bulbs and missing cover plates
·       Leave and mark remotes for ceiling fans, windows, blinds, etc so they can be tested.
·       Leave the home, if at all possible, this is the Buyer and Inspector’s time with the house.
